Who Am I

I have always rented up until the age of 25 when I finally decided that renting is a waste of money. Plus, I hated the fact that I could never really make a home mine. I am not the type of person who likes to change major aspects of my life very often. When I spend a lot of money on something, I want it to be mineminemine!

So, this blog was started a month or so after I first began to search for a home to buy
. I searched inactively (read: stalking Trulia.com) the entire month of December 2010, and actively (read: visiting two to four homes every week) the entire months of January and February. I was going through so much stress from all of the policies and regulations that go along with buying a home that I wanted to document it! Also, I knew that I would want to document my progress of turning my home into my very own creation.

After a bit of heartache in the middle of January due to being outbid on an adorable 1930s historical home that had been rebuilt from the studs up (and was majorly inexpensive!), I finally received the hey, you got the house! call from my broker on February 28th on another house I had offered on just the night before. In hindsight, this house is so much better for me as I have always wanted my own bedroom PLUS a guest bedroom PLUS a craft room PLUS a back patio PLUS a garage for storage. The original house could not have provided all of that for me. It was a teenytiny house--450 sq. ft. smaller than the house I ended up getting. Not to mention, this house came fully furnished with mint condition antique furniture! The vintage lover in me just about died.

So, back to what this blog is about (because I go off on a tangent and don't know how to shut up about everything no one cares about).

Here is where I post about various decorations and remodelings I do to my very first (owned) home! ...And other various projects I may do, such as sewing or scrapbooking or failing trying to bake.
